Synopsis – What to Expect from “Catfight”
Catfight is a dark comedy about two former college friends who reunite after many years apart at a mutual acquaintance’s dinner party. Veronica (Sandra Oh) and Ashley (Anne Heche) were once close friends, but their paths have diverged drastically. Veronica is a successful artist who lives a comfortable life with her husband and two children. Ashley, on the other hand, is a struggling alcoholic who is barely scraping by.
At the dinner party, Ashley and Veronica’s old rivalries resurface. As the night progresses, the two women become increasingly belligerent, and their verbal sparring quickly turns physical. What started as a playful fight quickly escalates into a full-blown brawl, and the two women are soon engaged in a no-holds-barred battle.
The fight moves from the dinner party to the street, and then to a nearby bar, where Ashley and Veronica continue to battle it out. As the fight progresses, the two women’s motivations become clearer. Ashley is desperate to regain her former glory and Veronica is determined to prove that she is still the better woman.
The fight eventually comes to an end when Ashley and Veronica realize that their rivalry is no longer about winning or losing, but about understanding each other and finding a way to move on with their lives. Catfight is a darkly comic exploration of the lengths two women will go to in order to prove their worth.
