Synopsis – What to Expect from “Carlos”

Carlos is a French-German-Spanish drama film directed by Olivier Assayas, released in 2010. It follows the life of Ilich Ramírez Sánchez, a Venezuelan revolutionary and international terrorist known as Carlos the Jackal.

The film follows Carlos from his early days in the 1970s as a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) to his arrest in Sudan in 1994. He is portrayed as a revolutionary, a brilliant strategist, and a ruthless killer. The film shows his involvement in a number of terrorist attacks, including the 1975 raid on the OPEC headquarters in Vienna and the hijacking of a French plane in 1976.

The film also shows Carlos’ relationships with his comrades and his various lovers, as well as his increasing paranoia and his growing addiction to drugs. As his fame and notoriety grow, so does the attention of the international police forces, leading to his eventual capture.

The film is a powerful exploration of the life of a terrorist, showing both the glamour and the tragedy of his life. It is a gripping and powerful story that is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
