Synopsis/Plot
Cannonball Run II is a 1984 action comedy film starring Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Shirley MacLaine, Marilu Henner, and the return of the original Cannonball Run cast. The plot follows a group of racers who compete in an illegal cross-country race from Connecticut to California. The prize for the winner is a huge cash prize and the title of “The Cannonball King”.
The film starts off with a prologue introducing the characters and the rules of the race. The racers are divided into teams and each team must make it from the starting line in Connecticut to the finish line in California in the shortest amount of time. Along the way, they must avoid the police, who are trying to stop them.
The racers are a colorful bunch, including a wealthy playboy (Burt Reynolds), a pair of Italian mechanics (Dom DeLuise and Dean Martin), a nun (Shirley MacLaine), a former stuntman (Sammy Davis Jr.), and a mysterious woman (Marilu Henner).
The race is filled with outrageous stunts and wild chases as the racers battle for the top spot
