Synopsis – What to Expect from “Calvary”
Calvary is a dark comedy-drama film directed by John Michael McDonagh and released in 2014. It stars Brendan Gleeson as Father James, a Catholic priest living in a small Irish village.

Over the course of the week, Father James is confronted with the moral shortcomings of his parishioners. He meets a variety of characters, including a wealthy landowner, a troubled young doctor, a suicidal woman, and a troubled young man. Each of them has their own issues and grievances, and Father James attempts to counsel and guide them.
As the week progresses, Father James continues to be haunted by the mysterious voice in the confessional. He is also visited by a mysterious stranger, who seems to have some knowledge of the identity of Father James’ would-be killer.
As the day of his death approaches, Father James begins to face his own mortality. He reflects on his life and the choices he has made. He also begins to come to terms with the fact that he may be killed.
