Synopsis – What to Expect from “Burning Sands”
Burning Sands is a 2017 American drama film about a group of African-American college students pledging an African-American fraternity. The film follows Zurich (Trevor Jackson), a college freshman who is pledging a fraternity at the fictional Frederick Douglass University. Zurich is a good student and his family is proud of him, but he is torn between his desire to fit in and his own moral convictions.
The movie follows Zurich as he embarks on a journey of self-discovery, while also dealing with the pressures of being a part of a fraternity. The film follows Zurich as he is put through a series of tests and rituals, and as he navigates the hazing process. Along the way, he meets the other pledges, some of whom are more experienced in the fraternity system than he is.
The movie follows Zurich as he struggles to maintain his integrity and remain true to himself, while also trying to fit in with his new brothers. As the hazing process continues, Zurich begins to question the fraternity’s values and traditions. He also begins to realize that the fraternity’s rituals and traditions are not what he expected them to be.
Eventually, Zurich’s integrity and moral convictions are put to the test. He must decide whether to stay true to himself or to succumb to the pressure of his peers.
