Synopsis – What to Expect from “Burglar”
Burglar is a 1987 crime comedy film starring Whoopi Goldberg and Bob Goldthwait.
The film follows Bernice (Whoopi Goldberg), a small-time thief who is trying to make a living in New York City. After a failed attempt to rob a jewelry store, Bernice is caught and sent to jail. When she is released, Bernice realizes that she needs to make some money and decides to take on a job as a professional burglar.
Bernice teams up with her friend, Glenn (Bob Goldthwait), and they come up with a plan to rob a wealthy businessman’s home. With the help of a few accomplices, they break into the home and steal a valuable painting. However, their plan goes awry when they are caught by the homeowner and arrested.
In court, Bernice pleads guilty and is sentenced to jail. While in jail, she meets an elderly woman who helps her to realize the error of her ways. With the woman’s help, Bernice is able to turn her life around and eventually get released from jail.
Once out of jail, Bernice decides to use her newfound knowledge to help others. She starts a business helping people to protect their homes from burglars. She also begins to build a new life for herself, finding love and friendship along the way.
At the end of the movie, Bernice has found a new purpose in life and is determined
