Synopsis – What to Expect from “Buffalo Soldiers”
Buffalo Soldiers is a 2002 American drama film directed by Gregor Jordan and starring Joaquin Phoenix, Ed Harris, and Scott Glenn. The film is set in 1989, just after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and follows a young soldier, Ray Elwood (Phoenix), who is stationed at a US Army base in West Germany.
Ray is a young, ambitious soldier who is looking for a way to make some extra money. He meets a black-market dealer, Emil (Harris), who offers him a job smuggling stolen goods. Ray reluctantly agrees and soon finds himself in over his head. With the help of his friend, Stoney (Glenn), Ray must deal with both the dangerous black market and the corrupt officers in the army.
The film follows Ray as he navigates the treacherous waters of the black market and the military. Along the way, he discovers the truth about the corrupt officers and the Buffalo Soldiers, a group of African-American soldiers who were part of the US Army in the late 1800s.
As Ray and Stoney become more deeply involved in the criminal underworld, they must also face the consequences of their actions. The film culminates in a dramatic showdown between Ray and Emil, with Ray emerging victorious.
