Synopsis – What to Expect from “Bubba Ho-tep”
Bubba Ho-tep is a dark comedy-horror film from 2002. It stars Bruce Campbell as Elvis Presley and Ossie Davis as Jack, an old man who believes he is actually the King of Rock and Roll.
The film opens with an elderly Elvis Presley living in an East Texas retirement home, where he is known as Sebastian Haff. He has been living there for twenty years, and is a recluse who rarely leaves his room.
One day, Elvis meets Jack, who claims to be John F. Kennedy, and the two become fast friends. They discover that the retirement home is being terrorized by a mummy, which they nickname “Bubba Ho-tep”.
Elvis and Jack decide to take on the mummy and save the retirement home. They enlist the help of a local mortician, who gives them a magical amulet that will protect them from the mummy.
Armed with the amulet, Elvis and Jack set out to confront the mummy. Along the way, they face many obstacles, including a group of Elvis impersonators, a vengeful ghost, and a mysterious cult.
Eventually, they succeed in defeating the mummy, and saving the retirement home. However, in the process, Elvis and Jack must confront their own mortality, and come to terms with the fact that they are both aging.
