Synopsis – What to Expect from “Broken English”
Broken English is a romantic comedy-drama directed by Zoe Cassavetes and released in 2007. The film stars Parker Posey as Nora Wilder, a single thirty-something woman living in New York City. Nora is a successful career woman with a good job, but she is unhappy and unfulfilled in her personal life. She is constantly searching for true love, but her attempts to find it always seem to fail.
Nora’s life is changed when she meets Julien (Melvil Poupaud), a charming Frenchman. Julien is visiting New York on business and the two quickly become romantically involved. Despite their cultural differences, Nora and Julien find themselves falling in love.
As their relationship deepens, Nora begins to learn to appreciate the beauty of life and the joy of being in love. However, she soon discovers that Julien is not who he appears to be. He is married and has a family back in France. Nora is devastated and must decide whether to continue with the relationship or to move on.
The film follows Nora as she struggles to come to terms with her feelings for Julien and her own personal desires. Along the way, she learns to accept herself and to open her heart to the possibility of true love. With the help of her friends, Nora is able to overcome her fears and take a chance on love.
