Synopsis – What to Expect from “Brighton Rock”
Brighton Rock is a 2010 British crime drama film directed by Rowan Joffe and based on the Graham Greene novel of the same name. The film follows the story of Pinkie Brown (Sam Riley), a 17-year-old gang leader in Brighton, England in the 1930s.
The film begins with Pinkie and his gang, the ‘Boys’, committing a murder, and then fleeing to the seaside town of Brighton. Pinkie is determined to take control of the town and make it his own, and begins to take over the local gang business. However, he soon finds himself in a battle for power with an older gangster, Colleoni (Andy Serkis).
Meanwhile, Pinkie also finds himself falling for Rose (Andrea Riseborough), a young waitress who works in a local café. Rose is engaged to a local journalist, Fred Hale (John Hurt), who is investigating the murder that Pinkie and his gang committed.
As the situation in Brighton escalates, Pinkie is forced to make a desperate move to protect himself and his gang. He decides to marry Rose, hoping that this will protect him from the law and from Colleoni. But things become even more complicated when Fred discovers that Pinkie was responsible for the murder, and he sets out to bring him to justice.
The film culminates in an intense showdown between Pinkie, Colleoni, and Fred, as they all struggle
