Synopsis/Plot
Bright is a 2017 American urban fantasy crime film directed by David Ayer and written by Max Landis. The film stars Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, Noomi Rapace, Lucy Fry, Edgar Ramirez, Ike Barinholtz, and Happy Anderson.
Set in an alternate present-day Los Angeles, Bright follows two LAPD officers, Scott Ward (Smith) and Nick Jakoby (Edgerton), the first Orc police officer in the department. Ward and Jakoby are assigned to retrieve a powerful and mysterious weapon, which has the potential to bring peace to the city’s warring races. Along the way, they must battle the forces of evil, both human and supernatural, that threaten the city.
The film is an exploration of the themes of racism, prejudice, and the power of friendship. Ward and Jakoby must learn to trust each other and work together in order to overcome their differences and protect the city. Along the way, they discover that their true strength lies in their friendship and their willingness to stand up for what’s right.
