Synopsis/Plot
Bridesmaids is a 2011 American comedy film written by Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo, and directed by Paul Feig. The film stars Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Ellie Kemper, and Wendi McLendon-Covey.
The movie follows Annie (Wiig), a single woman in her late thirties, who struggles to navigate her personal and professional life. When her best friend Lillian (Rudolph) gets engaged, Annie is asked to be the maid of honor. Despite her initial reluctance, Annie eventually agrees to take on the responsibility, but quickly finds herself in a competition with Helen (Byrne), the wealthy and sophisticated wife of Lillian’s fiancé’s boss.
As Annie and Helen try to outdo each other in their efforts to plan the perfect wedding, Annie’s life begins to spiral out of control. She loses her job, her apartment, and her self-esteem. With the help of her bridesmaids, Annie eventually finds the strength to get her life back on track.
