Synopsis/Plot
Braveheart is a 1995 epic war film directed by and starring Mel Gibson. The story follows the life of William Wallace, a Scottish farmer who becomes a freedom fighter leading a rebellion against the tyrannical English king Edward I of England.
The movie begins in 1280 A.D., when William Wallace is a young boy. After his father and brother are killed by the English, William is taken in by his uncle and raised in a small village in Scotland. As he grows up, William is determined to avenge his family’s deaths and fight for Scotland’s freedom.
William soon meets Murron MacClannough, a woman he falls in love with. The two marry in secret, but Murron is soon captured and killed by the English. This tragedy fuels William’s rage and he begins to rally the Scots to fight against the English.
William and his army of Scots face off against the English in a series of battles, with William emerging as a hero. He is eventually captured and executed by the English, but his legacy lives on as the Scots continue to fight for their freedom.
