Synopsis – What to Expect from “Brain on Fire”
Brain on Fire is a 2017 biographical drama film directed by Gerard Barrett. It stars Chloe Grace Moretz as Susannah Cahalan, a young woman in her twenties who is diagnosed with a mysterious auto-immune disorder.
The movie follows Susannah’s journey as she experiences a series of strange and terrifying symptoms, such as seizures, hallucinations, and paranoia. As her condition worsens, she is admitted to a hospital where she is subjected to a series of tests and treatments that fail to reveal the cause of her illness.
With her condition deteriorating and no diagnosis in sight, Susannah is transferred to a psychiatric ward where she is diagnosed with a rare form of encephalitis. The doctors prescribe a course of treatment, but Susannah’s condition continues to worsen.
Desperate for answers, Susannah’s family reaches out to a renowned neurologist who is able to identify the cause of Susannah’s illness. With the cause identified, Susannah is able to receive the treatment she needs and eventually recovers.
The movie follows Susannah’s journey of recovery and her newfound appreciation for life. Through her experience, Susannah is able to find strength in the face of adversity and gain a newfound appreciation for life.
