Synopsis – What to Expect from “Brad’s Status”
Brad’s Status is a 2017 comedy-drama film that follows Brad Sloan (Ben Stiller) as he reflects on his life and career. Brad is a middle-aged man who works in a non-profit organization and lives with his wife, Melanie (Jenna Fischer), and their son, Troy (Austin Abrams).
Brad and Troy are about to embark on a college tour and Brad is feeling increasingly insecure about his life and achievements in comparison to his college friends. He begins to feel like he is not living up to his potential and is stuck in a rut. His feelings of inadequacy are further exacerbated when he meets his old college friends, who are all successful and wealthy.
As the tour progresses, Brad’s insecurities and anxieties become more and more apparent. He begins to question his life choices and starts to second-guess himself. He starts to become increasingly jealous of his friends and feels like he has let himself down.
Meanwhile, Troy is trying to make sense of his own life and his future. He is feeling overwhelmed by the college process and is not sure what to do. He begins to look up to his father and rely on him for advice and guidance.
As the tour comes to a close, Brad and Troy come to terms with the fact that life is not always what it seems. They both learn to appreciate the life they have and to be content with who they are. Brad eventually comes to terms with
