Synopsis – What to Expect from “Boychoir”
Boychoir is a 2014 drama film directed by François Girard and starring Dustin Hoffman, Kathy Bates, Eddie Izzard, and Josh Lucas.
The film tells the story of Stet (Garrett Wareing), a troubled and rebellious 11-year-old boy who is sent to a prestigious boys’ choir school after a series of violent outbursts. At the school, Stet finds himself struggling to fit in and is constantly at odds with the strict rules and regulations of the institution.
He meets the choirmaster, Carvelle (Dustin Hoffman), who takes him under his wing and helps him find his true voice. As Stet begins to open up and find his place in the choir, he discovers a passion for music and a newfound sense of belonging.
The film follows Stet as he navigates the world of the elite choir school, dealing with bullies, his own inner demons, and the pressures of being a part of the elite group of boys. As his confidence and skill grows, so does his passion for music, and he eventually finds the courage to stand up for himself and his peers.
The film culminates in a beautiful and emotional performance at the school’s annual concert, where Stet and his friends prove that music can bring people together and help them find their true voice.
