Synopsis/Plot
Bonnie and Clyde is a 1967 crime drama directed by Arthur Penn and written by David Newman and Robert Benton. Starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway as the titular characters, the film follows the notorious outlaws Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow as they embark on a crime spree across the United States during the Great Depression. The couple’s exploits soon make them folk heroes, but their wild lifestyle leads to a cat-and-mouse game with the law that culminates in a violent and bloody shootout.
The film opens with a young Bonnie Parker (Dunaway) meeting Clyde Barrow (Beatty) at a dance hall in Texas. Bonnie is instantly attracted to Clyde, and the two soon become a couple. They embark on a crime spree, robbing banks and stores to support themselves and their gang of outlaws. They become increasingly bold, and their exploits soon make them folk heroes.
Meanwhile, the law is hot on their trail, led by Texas Ranger Frank Hamer (Denver Pyle). Hamer and his men track Bonnie and Clyde across the country, but they are always one step ahead. As the law closes in, Bonnie and Clyde become increasingly reckless and desperate.
