Synopsis/Plot
Blazing Saddles is a classic comedy from 1974 directed by Mel Brooks. It stars Gene Wilder, Harvey Korman, and Cleavon Little. The movie follows the story of a black railroad worker, Bart (Little), who is appointed sheriff of a small, racist western town called Rock Ridge. Despite the town’s initial hostility, Bart quickly wins the townspeople over with his quick wit and charm.
The townspeople discover that the new railroad baron, Hedley Lamarr (Korman), is attempting to drive them out of town so he can build his own railroad. In order to save their town, Bart teams up with the drunken gunslinger, Jim (Wilder), and the two set out to foil Lamarr’s plan. Along the way they enlist the help of a group of ex-convicts, a Native American tribe, and even the governor of the state.
The movie is filled with outrageous sight gags, witty dialogue, and slapstick humor. It also features a number of memorable musical numbers, such as the classic “I’m Tired” and “The French Mistake”. In addition, Blazing Saddles is also known for its satirical commentary on racism in America,
