Synopsis/Plot
Black Rain is a 1989 American action drama film directed by Ridley Scott and starring Michael Douglas, Andy Garcia, Ken Takakura, and Kate Capshaw. The story follows two New York City police officers (Douglas and Garcia) who are tasked with escorting a Japanese criminal (Takakura) back to Japan. Along the way, they discover a complex web of organized crime and corruption.
The movie begins in New York City, where Nick Conklin (Douglas) and Charlie Vincent (Garcia) are two NYPD detectives who are assigned to escort a Japanese businessman, Sato (Takakura), back to Japan. Nick and Charlie are warned by their superior, Lt. Eddy Tanaguchi (Yusaku Matsuda), that Sato is a dangerous criminal and must be handled with extreme caution.
In Japan, Nick and Charlie are escorted by Inspector Masahiro Matsumoto (Yusaku Matsuda) and his assistant, Detective Shigematsu (John Fujioka). They soon discover that Sato is part of a powerful yakuza syndicate and the two officers are thrust into a dangerous and violent underworld. They must now use their wits and courage to survive
