Synopsis/Plot
Billionaire Boys Club is a 2018 American crime drama film directed by James Cox and starring Ansel Elgort, Taron Egerton, Kevin Spacey, Emma Roberts, Jeremy Irvine, Cary Elwes, Judd Nelson, and Billie Lourd.
The film is based on the true story of the Billionaire Boys Club, a group of wealthy young men who ran a Ponzi scheme in Southern California during the 1980s. The group, led by Joe Hunt (Elgort), was comprised of young men from affluent families, including Hunt’s friend Dean Karny (Egerton). After Karny’s father loses his fortune in a bad investment, Hunt comes up with a plan to make them all rich. He proposes a high-stakes investment scheme, and the group quickly amasses a large fortune.
However, Hunt’s ambition and recklessness soon lead to trouble. When one of the members is found dead, the group is plunged into a dangerous game of cat and mouse with a ruthless detective (Spacey) determined to bring them to justice. With their freedom and lives on the line, the Billionaire Boys Club must find a way to survive and outsmart the authorities.
