Synopsis/Plot
Beneath the Planet of the Apes is a science fiction film released in 1970. It is the sequel to the 1968 film Planet of the Apes. The film follows the adventures of astronaut Taylor, who crash-lands on a strange world ruled by intelligent apes. He soon discovers a subterranean society of humans and mutant humans living beneath the surface.
The humans of this underground society worship a mysterious nuclear bomb, believing it to be a god-like being. Taylor joins forces with Nova, a female human, to stop the apes from unleashing the bomb and destroying the planet. The two must battle their way through the ape-controlled cities and subterranean tunnels to find the bomb and prevent its detonation. Along the way, they encounter mutants, telepathic humans, and a giant mutant gorilla.
The film is set in a post-apocalyptic future where a nuclear war has destroyed most of the planet. It is a dark and gritty exploration of the consequences of war and the power of faith.
