Synopsis – What to Expect from “Belly”
Belly is a 1998 crime drama film directed by Hype Williams and starring DMX, Nas, and Taral Hicks. It follows two childhood friends, Tommy Brown (DMX) and Sincere (Nas), who become involved in the New York City underworld.
Tommy and Sincere have been friends since childhood, but since then, their lives have taken different paths. Tommy has become a successful drug dealer, while Sincere has gotten involved in crime as a way to make money. Despite their different lifestyles, they remain close.
When Tommy’s mentor, a powerful drug kingpin named Buns (Ron Brice), is murdered, Tommy and Sincere are forced to face the consequences of their decisions. Tommy takes it upon himself to avenge Buns’ death, while Sincere is determined to stay out of the criminal lifestyle.
The two men travel to the Caribbean, where they are soon caught up in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the local drug lords. As they struggle to survive, they must also confront the realities of their choices and the consequences of their actions.
As Tommy and Sincere fight to stay alive, they must also come to terms with the choices they have made and the lives they have led. In the end, they must decide if their friendship is strong enough to overcome the violence and crime that surround them.
