Synopsis/Plot
Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead is a 2007 crime thriller directed by Sidney Lumet. The film follows two brothers, Andy and Hank Hanson, who plan to rob their parents’ jewelry store in order to pay off Andy’s mounting debt. However, their plan quickly spirals out of control when the robbery goes wrong and their lives become intertwined with a series of unexpected events.
The film stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Marisa Tomei, and Albert Finney. Hoffman and Hawke play the two brothers, Andy and Hank, respectively. Andy is a desperate, greedy man who has been living a life of crime for years and is in deep debt. Hank is a successful businessman who reluctantly agrees to help Andy with the robbery. Marisa Tomei plays Gina, Andy’s wife, who is desperate to keep her family together. Albert Finney plays the brothers’ father, Charles, who is struggling to keep his business afloat.
