Synopsis/Plot
Beetlejuice is a 1988 American fantasy-comedy film directed by Tim Burton and starring Michael Keaton as the title character. The plot follows a recently deceased couple who become ghosts haunting their former home, and an obnoxious, devious poltergeist named Betelgeuse (Keaton) from the Netherworld who tries to scare away the new inhabitants permanently.
The film follows newly deceased couple Adam and Barbara Maitland (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis), who are stuck haunting their former home in Connecticut. When the obnoxious Deetz family, consisting of Charles (Jeffrey Jones), Delia (Catherine O’Hara), and daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder), move in, the Maitlands attempt to scare them away without success. Desperate, they turn to Betelgeuse, a wild and outrageous “ghost-with-the-most” from the Netherworld, to help them rid their home of the Deetz family.
