Synopsis/Plot
Bee Movie is a 2007 American computer-animated comedy film produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film was directed by Simon J. Smith and Steve Hickner, and stars Jerry Seinfeld and Renée Zellweger. The plot follows Barry B. Benson (Seinfeld), a honey bee who sues the human race for exploiting bees, after learning from his florist friend Vanessa (Zellweger) that humans sell and consume honey.
The film starts with Barry B. Benson graduating from bee college. He is quickly disillusioned by the prospect of having only one career choice—making honey. Against the wishes of his father and the rest of the bee community, Barry ventures outside the hiveand talks to a human, Vanessa, who works at a flower shop. Barry learns that humans have been stealing and eating the bees’ honey for centuries. He realizes that his true calling is to obtain justice for his kind by suing the human race.
Barry’s mission attracts wide attention from the international press, and soon the bee hive becomes divided. The bee community is split between those who support Barry’s cause and those who are afraid of the consequences of his actions. In the end, Barry’s case goes to trial, and the bees are victorious. The judge orders the human race to give the bees back their honey and cease their exploitation of the species. Barry is hailed as a hero, and the bee world celebrates his victory.
