Synopsis/Plot
Bedazzled is a 2000 romantic comedy fantasy film starring Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley. The film follows Elliot Richards, an unlucky and unfulfilled man who makes a deal with the Devil, played by Hurley, in exchange for seven wishes. Elliot, desperate for love, uses his wishes in an attempt to win the heart of his co-worker Allison. However, each wish backfires and leads to unexpected and humorous consequences.
The Devil, in an effort to win Elliot’s soul, takes on the form of a beautiful woman and promises to grant him seven wishes in exchange for his soul. Elliot, unaware of the consequences of his wishes, makes a series of wishes that are immediately granted. He wishes to be rich, to be powerful, to be a rock star, and to be a famous athlete. Each wish backfires, leading to unexpected and humorous consequences.
In the end, Elliot learns that true happiness comes from within and that he must be content with himself before he can find true love. He learns that the Devil’s promises are not to be trusted and that he must take control of his own destiny if he is to find true love.
