Beatriz at Dinner is a 2017 American comedy-drama film starring Salma Hayek, John Lithgow, Connie Britton, Jay Duplass, Amy Landecker, Chloë Sevigny, and David Warshofsky.
The film follows Beatriz (Hayek), an immigrant from a poor town in Mexico, who works as a holistic health practitioner in Los Angeles. After her car breaks down, she is invited to dinner at the home of her wealthy client, Cathy (Britton). At the dinner, she meets Cathy’s husband Grant (Lithgow), her business partner Doug (Duplass), and their friends, including the powerful and arrogant real estate developer, Doug Strutt (Warshofsky).
The dinner starts off on a light note, but tensions quickly mount as Beatriz and Doug Strutt clash over their opposing views on life. Beatriz is appalled by Doug’s callous attitude towards the environment, while Doug mocks her spiritual beliefs. Things get even more heated when Doug reveals his plans to build a golf course on a sacred site in Mexico.
