Synopsis/Plot
Bean is a 1997 British-American comedy film directed by Mel Smith and starring Rowan Atkinson as the title character, a bumbling and eccentric museum guard. Bean works at the National Gallery in London, where he causes havoc and mayhem with his various antics. He is sent to Los Angeles to represent the gallery at the unveiling of the painting Whistler’s Mother, and mayhem ensues as he causes chaos in the City of Angels.
Bean’s misadventures in Los Angeles include accidentally destroying the expensive painting he was sent to protect, getting involved in a car chase with a gang of criminals, and getting into a fight with a security guard at a celebrity party. He also gets into a series of misunderstandings with the people he meets, including a young boy whom he befriends, a rich businessman who mistakes him for a nanny, and a woman who falls in love with him.
Throughout the film, Bean’s childlike innocence and lack of common sense lead him into a series of comical situations. His misadventures are often accompanied by a slapstick soundtrack and visual gags that add to the humour. In the end, Bean’s antics cause enough trouble that he is sent back to London,
