Synopsis – What to Expect from “Barefoot”
Barefoot is a 2014 romantic comedy-drama directed by Andrew Fleming. The film stars Evan Rachel Wood as Jaye, a young woman with mental health issues who is released from a psychiatric hospital. She is taken in by her brother, played by Scott Speedman, and his wife, played by Jena Malone.
At first, Jaye struggles to fit in with her brother’s suburban lifestyle, but gradually she begins to find her place. She meets a charming young man named Jeff, played by Chris Kattan, at a local bar. Jeff is a struggling musician who is looking for a place to stay and Jaye offers him her brother’s spare room.
The two begin to develop a close bond, and Jaye is able to open up to Jeff about her past and her struggles with mental health. Jeff helps her to take control of her life and to find a job.
Meanwhile, Jaye’s brother and his wife begin to worry about her relationship with Jeff and their fears are exacerbated when Jaye and Jeff go on a road trip together. They eventually realize that Jaye and Jeff are just good friends and that Jaye is in a much better place than she was before.
At the end of the film, Jaye and Jeff have a tearful goodbye as Jeff prepares to leave for his next gig. Jaye is sad to see him go, but she is also thankful for the time they spent together and the support
