Synopsis/Plot
Barbie as The Princess & the Pauper is an animated musical fantasy film based on the Mark Twain classic novel The Prince and the Pauper. It was released in 2004 and is the first in the Barbie film series.
The story follows the adventures of Princess Anneliese and her look-alike, a pauper named Erika. Anneliese is a princess in the kingdom of Montavia who longs for a life of freedom and adventure. Erika is a poor girl who dreams of becoming a princess. When the two girls meet, they realize that they look exactly alike. After a series of events, they decide to switch places so that Anneliese can experience life outside the palace walls andErika can experience the life of a princess. However, their plan is soon discovered by the evil Preminger, who wants to take over the kingdom and marry Anneliese. The two girls must work together to defeat Preminger and save the kingdom. Along the way, they learn valuable lessons about friendship, courage, and following their dreams. The film features several original songs and a voice cast that includes Kelly Sheridan as Anneliese and Chantal Strand as Erika.
