Synopsis/Plot
Barbie as Rapunzel is a 2002 American-Canadian direct-to-video computer-animated musical fantasy film directed by Owen Hurley and produced by Mainframe Entertainment. It is the first entry in the Barbie film series and stars Kelly Sheridan as the voice of Barbie.
The film follows the story of Rapunzel, a girl with long, magical hair who is kidnapped from her parents’ castle as a baby and locked away in a hidden tower. Years later, the spoiled and selfish Prince Stefan hears of Rapunzel’s beauty and travels to the tower to rescue her. With the help of her animal friends, Penelope the pink chameleon and Pascal the green iguana, Rapunzel escapes the tower andjourneys to the kingdom of Corona, where she learns to trust and believe in herself. Along the way, she discovers the power of true love and friendship. With the help of her newfound friends, Rapunzel is able to break the spell of the evil witch Gothel and reclaim her rightful place as princess of Corona.
