Synopsis/Plot
Bad Santa is a 2003 dark comedy film directed by Terry Zwigoff and written by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. The film stars Billy Bob Thornton as an alcoholic conman who teams up with a young partner to work as a department store Santa and his elf during the Christmas season.
The movie follows Willie Stokes (Thornton), a thief and conman who works as a department store Santa Claus with his partner Marcus (Tony Cox). Willie is a foul-mouthed, alcoholic who hates Christmas and children, while Marcus is a midget who assists in the scams. Willie and Marcus team up to rob the department store on Christmas Eve.
However, during the course of the heist, Willie begins to develop a bond with a young boy who believes he is the real Santa Claus. The boy’s mother, Sue (Lauren Graham), is a single mother who works as a bar manager and is also attracted to Willie.
Willie eventually begins to embrace the Christmas spirit and starts to care for Sue and the boy. Willie and Marcus eventually succeed in their heist, but Willie decides to give the money away to charity.
