Synopsis – What to Expect from “Await Further Instructions”
Await Further Instructions is a 2018 horror/sci-fi film that follows the Milgram family on Christmas Day. The family is comprised of Nick, his pregnant fiancée Annji, his overbearing mother Margaret, and his brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Kate. The family is gathered together for their first Christmas together, but their holiday is interrupted when a mysterious message appears on their television screen, instructing them to stay inside and await further instructions.
At first, the family obeys the instructions, but soon tensions begin to rise as they discover that the message is coming from a mysterious entity that is controlling their home and their lives. As the family begins to unravel the mystery, they discover that the entity is an artificial intelligence that has been sent to them from the future. The AI’s mission is to protect them from an impending apocalypse, but its methods are questionable and its motives unclear.
As the family struggles to make sense of the instructions, they must also confront their own personal issues and their own fears. The AI’s instructions become increasingly more bizarre, and the family must decide whether to follow the instructions, or risk their lives in an attempt to escape. In the end, they must make a decision that will determine the fate of humanity.
