Synopsis – What to Expect from “Audrie & Daisy”
Audrie & Daisy is a 2016 documentary film that tells the story of two teenage girls, Audrie Pott and Daisy Coleman, who were sexually assaulted by high school classmates in 2012. The film follows their individual stories as they go through the aftermath of the assaults, as well as the ensuing media frenzy.
The film begins with the story of Audrie Pott, a 15-year-old high school student from Saratoga, California. She was sexually assaulted while passed out at a party, and the assault was filmed and shared on social media. After the assault, Audrie was subjected to cyberbullying and harassment from her classmates. She eventually committed suicide.
The film then moves to Maryville, Missouri, where Daisy Coleman was sexually assaulted by a high school football star. Her story gained national attention when her mother, Melinda, brought the case to the attention of the media. Despite the attention, the case was dropped due to lack of evidence. Daisy was then subjected to cyberbullying and harassment from her classmates.
The film then follows the stories of both Audrie and Daisy as they struggle to cope with the aftermath of their assaults. The film also examines the media frenzy that surrounded their cases, and how the media often sensationalized and distorted the stories.
The film culminates with the stories of Audrie and Daisy finding justice and resolution. In the end, the film serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of holding perpetrators
