Synopsis – What to Expect from “At Close Range”
At Close Range is a 1986 crime drama film directed by James Foley and starring Sean Penn, Christopher Walken, Mary Stuart Masterson, and Crispin Glover. The film follows the story of Brad Whitewood Jr., a rebellious teenager who is drawn into a life of crime by his father, Brad Sr., a notorious Pennsylvania crime boss.
Brad Jr. (Penn) is a troubled teen living in rural Pennsylvania. He is constantly getting into trouble, and his father, Brad Sr. (Walken), is a notorious crime boss in the area. Brad Sr. has been absent from his son’s life for years, and when he finally returns, he attempts to draw Brad Jr. into his criminal lifestyle.
At first, Brad Jr. is hesitant, but he soon finds himself drawn in by his father’s power and money. He begins to hang out with his father’s criminal associates and is soon involved in a variety of criminal activities. Brad Jr. is soon caught up in a life of crime, and he and his father become estranged.
Meanwhile, Brad Jr. meets and falls in love with Terry (Masterson), a young woman from a good family. Terry’s father, a local sheriff, is determined to put an end to the criminal activities of Brad Sr. and his associates. As Brad Jr. and Terry’s relationship grows, Brad Sr.’s criminal activities become more and more dangerous, and Brad Jr. finds himself caught between his father
