Arthur 2: On the Rocks is a 1988 comedy film, starring Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli, and directed by Bud Yorkin.
The movie follows Arthur Bach (Dudley Moore), a wealthy playboy who is forced to face the consequences of his irresponsible lifestyle. After his father’s death, Arthur is informed that he will be cut off from the family fortune unless he can prove he is capable of taking care of himself. In order to do so, Arthur must find a job and a wife.
Arthur’s search for a wife leads him to Linda Marolla (Liza Minnelli), the daughter of a Mafia boss. Despite their initial differences, Arthur and Linda eventually fall in love and plan to get married.
However, Arthur’s plan to marry Linda is complicated by the fact that her father doesn’t approve of the match. He hires a team of thugs to kidnap Arthur and take him to a remote island.
On the island, Arthur is forced to confront his own fears and insecurities, as well as the consequences of his irresponsible lifestyle. With the help of his friend, Burt Johnson (John Gielgud), Arthur must find a way to escape and prove to Linda’s father that he is capable of taking care of himself.
