Synopsis/Plot
Argo is a 2012 American historical drama directed by Ben Affleck and written by Chris Terrio. The film tells the story of a CIA “exfiltration” specialist who, in 1979, devises a daring plan to free six Americans who had escaped the American embassy in Tehran during the Iranian Revolution and were hiding in the Canadian ambassador’s residence.
The film stars Ben Affleck, Alan Arkin, and John Goodman, and is based on a true story. The film follows Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck), a CIA operative who is tasked with creating a fake movie production in order to rescue the six Americans. To do this, he enlists the help of Hollywood make-up artist John Chambers (John Goodman) and producer Lester Siegel (Alan Arkin). Together, they create a fake film production called “Argo” as a cover for the mission.
Mendez then travels to Iran, posing as a producer scouting locations for the fake movie. He meets with the six Americans and convinces them to join him in his mission. The group then embarks on a dangerous journey to the airport, where they must pass through Iranian customs and security in order to escape the country
