Are You Still Watching on Netflix is a common popup that appears on the screen when a user keeps watching the show for hours with no device input. Although it seems an annoying feature but is pretty important.

In this guide, we will help you learn how to fix it and turn it off using browser extensions.

Why Does Netflix Keep Checking If You’re Still Watching?

Why Does Netflix Keep Checking If You're Still Watching

Netflix pushes this pop-up if the user isn’t actively watching a show to save data, energy when you lay off watching the show in any case.

For example, if you have been watching a show for 1 or 2 hours without using any controller (volume or next button), the “are you still watching” message will appear on your screen.

The prompt only appears to confirm if the user is around the screen and is not asleep! This feature allows Netflix to save bandwidth and users to save their internet if it’s limited.

So it’s nothing much but a preventative measure introduced by Netflix for your own good. But if it’s bugging you and you want to get rid of it, let’s turn it off with a few clicks.

How To Disable Are You Still Watching Feature On Netflix Using Desktop?

The Are You Still Watching pop-up can be disabled in numerous ways on Netflix, but the simplest and most straightforward is just to enable autoplay.

If you turn on autoplay for a certain show, Netflix will automatically play every episode in order and prevent the popup from appearing on your screen.

Follow these simple steps to enable autoplay on your Netflix account –

  • Log in to your Netflix account using a browser (Chrome/Firefox) on your desktop.
  • Hover the cursor over your profile, click it and a drop-down menu will appear.
  • Now click on “Your Account” and a new page will open.
  • Here, click on “Playback Setting” under the “My Profile” section.
  • Now you will have two options and you only need to uncheck the first box (Autoplay next episode in a series on all devices).
  • Click save and it’s done!

That’s how simple it is to turn off are you still watching feature in your Netflix when using it on a laptop/PC/ or Tablet.

If turning off this feature is time-consuming for you, use the “Netflix Pause Removal” extension and install it in your chrome browser. It will do the job for you.

Here’s how to install the extension on your browser:

  1. Click here to redirect to the Netflix Pause Removal extension page.
  2. Click on the “Add to Chrome” button.
  3. When a pop-up appears, click on the “Add Extension” option.
  4. A file will start downloading and the extension will be installed in your chrome browser automatically.
