Synopsis/Plot
Aquamarine is a 2006 fantasy-comedy film directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum and based on the novel of the same name by Alice Hoffman. The movie stars Emma Roberts, Joanna “JoJo” Levesque, and Sara Paxton as three teenage girls who discover a magical mermaid named Aquamarine (Paxton) in their local swimming pool.
The movie begins with best friends Hailey (Roberts) and Claire (Levesque) facing the prospect of being separated for the summer when Hailey’s family moves away. On the last day of school, they find a beautiful mermaid named Aquamarine in their local swimming pool. Aquamarine tells the girls that she was sent from the sea by her father to find true love on land. She offers to grant the girls a wish if they can help her find a boyfriend before the moon is full.
The girls set out to find Aquamarine a suitable boyfriend, but their efforts are complicated by a local lifeguard, Raymond (Jake McDorman), whom the girls both have a crush on. In the end, Aquamarine discovers that true love doesn’t always come in the form of a human
