Synopsis – What to Expect from “Antitrust”
Antitrust is a 2001 American thriller film directed by Peter Howitt and starring Ryan Phillippe, Rachael Leigh Cook, Claire Forlani, Tim Robbins, and Richard Roundtree.
The film follows computer programmer Milo Hoffman (Ryan Phillippe) as he takes a job at a powerful software company, NURV, owned by Gary Winston (Tim Robbins). Milo is initially excited to work at the cutting-edge tech company, but soon begins to suspect something sinister is going on.
Milo discovers that NURV is planning to use its advanced technology to create a monopoly on the Internet, allowing them to control all online activity. He also discovers that Gary Winston has been illegally obtaining computer code from other companies and using it to create his own software.
Milo teams up with his college friend, Lisa Calighan (Rachael Leigh Cook), to investigate the company further. With the help of an ex-employee, they uncover evidence that proves NURV is planning to use its technology to gain control of the Internet.
Milo, Lisa, and their team of hackers attempt to stop NURV, but their efforts are quickly thwarted by Gary Winston and his team of security experts. With the help of a mysterious hacker known as “The Phantom,” Milo and Lisa manage to expose NURV’s plans and put a stop to the company’s monopoly.
