Synopsis – What to Expect from “Another Earth”
Another Earth is a 2011 science fiction drama film that follows Rhoda Williams, a bright young woman who is accepted into MIT’s astrophysics program. On the same day of her acceptance, Rhoda is involved in a car accident that kills an entire family. Sentenced to four years in prison, Rhoda is released after two years and returns to her hometown.
Upon her return, Rhoda discovers that a duplicate Earth has been discovered in the sky. She is drawn to the mysterious planet and begins to ponder the implications of a second Earth. Rhoda is then approached by a wealthy entrepreneur, John Burroughs, who offers her a job to be his companion aboard a mission to the duplicate Earth.
Rhoda accepts the offer and embarks on a journey of self-discovery and redemption. Along the way, she struggles with her guilt, her feelings for John, and her desire to learn more about the mysterious planet.
As Rhoda and John approach the duplicate Earth, they find that it bears an eerie resemblance to their own. They soon realize that the planet contains an exact copy of their own lives, and that their actions on the planet will have dire consequences for their own lives.
The movie follows Rhoda and John as they explore the duplicate Earth and discover the secrets of the universe. As their journey progresses, Rhoda must confront her past and learn to forgive herself for her mistakes. In the end, Rhoda and John must decide
