The movie opens with the animals of Manor Farm discussing their dissatisfaction with their lives under the rule of Farmer Jones. Led by the pigs, the animals decide to take over the farm and create a new society based on the Seven Commandments of Animalism.
The animals soon become divided in their views of how the farm should be run, with the pigs taking the lead in the new government. The animals begin to work hard to make the farm a success, but the pigs soon become corrupted by their newfound power and begin to oppress the other animals.
Meanwhile, Farmer Jones and his men return to the farm to reclaim it, but the animals are able to successfully drive them off. As the animals continue to work hard, the pigs start to become increasingly greedy and tyrannical. They begin to rewrite the Seven Commandments to suit their own interests and gradually become more and more like the humans they had originally revolted against.
The other animals become increasingly disillusioned with the pigs’ rule and a rebellion begins to brew. The animals finally take a stand and overthrow the pigs, restoring the original Seven Commandments and restoring freedom and equality to
