Synopsis – What to Expect from “Angel and the Badman”
“Angel and the Badman” is a classic western movie released in 1947. It tells the story of a notorious gunfighter, Quirt Evans (John Wayne), who has been wounded in a shootout. He is found by a Quaker family, the Lomaxes, and is taken in and cared for by the family’s daughter, Penelope (Gail Russell).
As Quirt recovers, he begins to develop feelings for Penelope, but her family is against their relationship. Quirt is determined to make a new life for himself, and he finds a job working for a rancher. He is determined to put his violent past behind him, but his old enemies are determined to see him fail.
Meanwhile, Penelope’s brother, John (Harry Carey Jr.), is determined to bring Quirt to justice for his past crimes. He sets out to hunt Quirt down, but finds himself in a stand-off with his own family when he discovers the truth about Quirt’s past.
Quirt must face his enemies and prove to Penelope’s family that he is capable of change. He must also prove to Penelope that he is worthy of her love. In the end, Quirt must decide whether to continue his life of violence or to embrace a new life of peace and love.
