Synopsis – What to Expect from “Ang Lihim Ni Antonio”
Ang Lihim Ni Antonio is a 2008 Filipino drama film directed by Jade Castro. The movie follows the story of Antonio (played by John Lloyd Cruz), a young gay man from a conservative family who is struggling to come to terms with his sexuality.
The movie starts off with Antonio’s father, Juan (played by Johnny Delgado), who is a staunch Catholic and a traditionalist. He has a hard time accepting Antonio’s homosexuality and is determined to make him conform to the norms of society. Antonio, however, is determined to live his life as he pleases and is not willing to let his father dictate his life.
Antonio is also struggling with his relationship with his long-time boyfriend, Carlo (played by Carlos Morales). Carlo is a successful businessman and is much more open and accepting of Antonio’s sexuality than Juan. Antonio is torn between his loyalty to his family and his love for Carlo.
Meanwhile, Antonio’s mother, Teresa (played by Gina Pareño), is supportive of her son and tries to bridge the gap between Antonio and his father. She is also trying to cope with the fact that her husband is having an affair with another woman.
