Synopsis – What to Expect from “And Now for Something Completely Different”
And Now for Something Completely Different is a 1971 British sketch comedy film directed by Ian MacNaughton and featuring the Monty Python comedy troupe. The film mainly consists of sketches from the first two Monty Python’s Flying Circus television series.
The film begins with a short introduction by the troupe, in which they explain that they have decided to make a movie out of some of their best sketches. The sketches featured in the movie include the “Dead Parrot Sketch”, in which a customer (John Cleese) attempts to return a dead parrot to a pet shop; the “Cheese Shop Sketch”, in which a customer (Michael Palin) attempts to purchase a variety of cheeses from a cheese shop that has none; the “Upper Class Twit of the Year Show”, in which a group of upper-class twits compete for the title of “Upper Class Twit of the Year”; the “Ministry of Silly Walks”, in which a civil servant (John Cleese) attempts to explain the concept of silly walks to a bewildered public; and the “Gumby Brain Surgery Sketch”, in which a doctor (Graham Chapman) attempts to perform brain surgery on a patient (Michael Palin) using a gumby.
The film also includes musical numbers, such as “The Lumberjack Song”, in which a lumberjack (Michael Palin) explains his love of the outdoors; “The Philosophers’ Song”,
