Synopsis – What to Expect from “An Innocent Man”
An Innocent Man is a 1989 American crime drama film directed by Peter Yates. It stars Tom Selleck as Jim Rainey, a man wrongfully convicted of murder who is determined to prove his innocence.
The film begins with Jim Rainey, a successful businessman, living a peaceful life with his wife and daughter in a small town. One night, he goes out with his friend to a local bar, where they are attacked by a group of thugs. In the ensuing fight, one of the thugs is killed. Jim is arrested and convicted of murder, and sentenced to life in prison.
In prison, Jim is determined to prove his innocence, but his efforts are met with resistance from the prison guards and the other inmates. He is eventually befriended by an inmate named Eddie, who helps him get access to the evidence that could prove his innocence.
Meanwhile, on the outside, Jim’s wife and daughter are struggling to cope with his absence. His wife, Linda, begins to doubt his innocence, and his daughter, Janie, starts to resent him for leaving them.
Jim discovers that the real murderer was a local drug dealer, and with the help of Eddie, he is able to find the evidence to prove his innocence. With the help of a lawyer, he is able to get his conviction overturned and is released from prison.
