Synopsis/Plot
An American Tail: The Treasure of Manhattan Island is a 1998 animated musical adventure film directed by Larry Latham and produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblimation animation studio. The film is the third installment in the An American Tail series, following An American Tail (1986) and An American Tail: Fievel Goes West (1991).
The film follows Fievel Mousekewitz and his family as they move from the Russian shtetl of Anatevka to the bustling streets of New York City. While exploring the city, Fievel discovers an underground civilization of Native American mice living beneath the city. The mice are threatened by the construction of a subway line, and Fievel teams up with a mysterious mouse named Cholena to find a hidden treasure that will save the mice’s home. Along the way, Fievel and his friends must dodge the sinister Cat R. Waul and his gang of cats, as well as the dangerous humans who are determined to find the treasure for themselves.
