Synopsis – What to Expect from “American Wrestler: The Wizard”
American Wrestler: The Wizard is a 2017 sports drama film directed by Alex Ranarivelo. It is based on the true story of Ali Afshar, a teenage Iranian refugee who escapes to the United States during the Iranian Revolution in the late 1970s.
The movie follows Ali (George Kosturos) as he moves to a small California town with his family. Struggling to fit in and learn English, Ali finds solace in the world of wrestling. With the help of his coach and mentor (William Fichtner), Ali joins the wrestling team and soon becomes a star.
