Synopsis/Plot

American Hustle is a 2013 American crime comedy-drama film directed by David O. Russell. It stars Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and Jeremy Renner. The film follows con artists Irving Rosenfeld and Sydney Prosser, who are forced to work for an FBI agent Richie DiMaso. DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia.

The story is set in 1978, in the midst of the Abscam scandal. Irving Rosenfeld is a con artist and loan shark who lives with his British partner and lover Sydney Prosser in New York City. When FBI agent Richie DiMaso catches them in the act of a scam, he forces them to work with him to take down other corrupt politicians and mobsters. Irving and Sydney become embroiled in a dangerous web of lies and deceit as they try to keep one step ahead of the law.

The film follows the trio as they navigate the complexities of power and deception, and the consequences of their actions. Along the way, they must confront their own personal demons and make difficult choices that will affect their lives forever.
