Synopsis/Plot
Always is a 1989 American romantic drama film directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Richard Dreyfuss, Holly Hunter, Brad Johnson, and John Goodman. The film follows the story of Pete Sandich (Dreyfuss), an experienced and daring aerial firefighter, who is killed in an accident while attempting a daring rescue mission.
The film is set in the late 1940s and follows Pete’s journey from a carefree daredevil pilot to a more mature and thoughtful man. Pete works as a firefighter in the forests of Idaho, where he is respected and admired by his peers. He is also a skilled pilot and has a close relationship with his fellow firefighter, Dorinda (Hunter).
When Pete’s best friend and fellow firefighter, Al Yackey (Goodman), is killed in a crash, Pete is determined to take over the job of firefighting. He is soon given the chance to join the elite squadron of aerial firefighters, where he quickly earns respect for his skill and bravery.
